Campus Security Services, located at 11390-87 Avenue, in the southwest
corner of the Education Carpark, is open 24/7 to address the
University community needs. Alternatively, we do have a satellite
office located at the south end of H.U.B. Mall, that is staffed by
both Auxiliary and regular members during specific times.
Our full time Constables and our Auxiliary members are first
responders to all emergencies on campus, and we also may be reached by
any payphone (toll free call), emergency blue phone, or by regular
telephone (492-5050). Assistance to anyone calling our office is
treated with high priority, and a person may expect nothing short of
prompt, expedient professional service from all our members.
Comprised of 25 regular patrol Constables, a
Student Auxiliary program, combined with crucial internal support
of our Community Relations, Investigations, LAN Coordinator,
Dispatchers, Administrative personnel, and other specialized self
generating projects and programs, makes our department viable and
responsive to the demands of our constituents. Campus Security
Services answers directly to the
Associate Vice President, Human Resources.
In 1993, a needed, progressive transition to Special Constable Status
was applied for, and granted to our full time members. With
specialized training, appointed by the Province of Alberta, this
enabled Campus Security to be on the "forefront" of the University
Security industry in Western Canada. Since this time, several
institutions have followed this lead, recognizing the value, and
similar appointments have been issued to other Campus Security
Agencies across Canada.
The Special Constable status continues to be a positive influence, on
the department's image, its members, and the University, enabling CSS
to serve the community with regard to expanded authority focusing on
safety oriented issues. This, in turn, has enhanced our presence and
has made a definitive difference for patrons attending our
institution, providing them with a safe, secure and enjoyable learning
experience.
Within this website, you will be able to explore the versatility and
direction of CSS, and we hope that the information contained within
about our department will show our role within this vast community,
and the direction we are moving. Moreover, we also hope that our site
will be able to provide useful information you may take with you, to
hopefully assist you in some fashion. |
