CommentsThe year's sure fly by fast ... this will be the 40th anniversary since the Edmonton Exposition adopted the Klondike Gold rush theme. The Klondike Association and Northlands Park work very hard together to make Klondike Days the high 'profile event of the year that it is.
I can recall in the early sixties when Warwick's Lounge and Nightclub was one of the first to get their staff to dress Klondike. Everybody really had a ball; all the department stores and most of the hotels and restaurants got involved, and a lot of top entertainment was also brought in to town as part of the whole fair. Don't be afraid to get involved' yourself. You can start by simply dressing up a little, but be sure to take in some of the fun during the ten days. Edmonton Klondike Days, July 18 to July 27 ... see you at this great festival and don't forget the parade!
1260 THE TEAM Sports Radio is now going strong and sounding not bad and time will help improve the format. Jim Rome ... wow! He gets away with murder, but is very interesting to listen to. Happy to hear Bryn Griffiths (in his spare time, one of Billy's Guide's excellent writers) on THE TEAM and he and Jake Daniels do a great job in the prime time morning drive slot. Keep up the good work guys.
TSN's Jim Van Horne, who I met while he was covering a Willie DeWit fight in Regina, is one of THE Team’s afternoon anchor announcers. He has always been one of my favorite sportscasters and is a real class guy.
And when it comes to sports/radio/all around class acts, there's none better in this town than Wes Montgomery. The CFCW morning man just had a big operation lately, having one of his kidneys removed. Get well soon Wes, I know everyone is looking forward to hearing you and Jackie Ray on your great morning show.
