CommentsEver since the Gretzky Trade… sale… whatever… ever since that time I’ve become a BIG believer in the old saying, “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire”. I’m ready to put that slogan to the test again.
I heard the rumblings the week after the Oilers bowed out of the Stanley Cup playoffs… I heard the whispers the few weeks ago… and now it’s started up again… strong as ever. Will the Oilers deal off netminder Tommy Salo?? My brain tells me no… Kevin Lowe says no… but it’s the strength of the rumblings around the hockey world that’s giving me cause for pause. Why? Must we always have a scapegoat following the playoffs in this town? Has Tommy’s shelf life or best before date finally expired here in the Garlic City? I’ll ask again… Why?
Don’t get me wrong, I love Jussi Markkanen, but I would NOT feel confident in THIS team going into the next season with a tandem of Markkanen and Ty Conklin. Both horribly unproven over the long haul. Yes I know… Jussi played some solid games last season, but that does NOT make him the Ready for Prime Time Player in my eyes. And Conklin??? Well?? He’s in Hamilton and not the NHL right now. I hope they stay the course.
One musing on the Stanley Cup playoffs…
The Devils… OK fine… But the DUCKS!?
Calgary HAS finally froze over!
The Edmonton Eskimos are getting ready for another CFL season and I can hardly wait. It was a thrilling season last year, with the club losing a heartbreaker in the Grey Cup at Commonwealth. But this time around I have a very strong feeling about the Green and Gold. Watch out for Ricky Ray!
I’m outta here.
