On Sat June 7th I had the opportunity to meet Mr "Joe Millionaire" himself, Evan Marriott. I acquired a pass to the Smirnoff Pyjama party held at Inferno, in which Evan was to make an appearance. My friends and I donned our pj’s and were disappointed and somewhat embarrassed to see that less than 1/4 of the crowd did the same. We had been hanging out socializing for a couple of hours, when we noticed people crowding in the back corner of the bar. I went over to see that Evan had finally arrived and was doing a little meet & greet.
Several anxious, drooling females were herded behind ropes, as they were let in a few at a time, for a picture and an autograph. In no time at all we were conversing with the reality show star. He didn’t seem that comfortable having to meet so many people. I was surprised to find "Joe Millionaire" wasn’t being overly nice and just seemed to go through the motions; he hardly flashed that Colgate smile of his (that has been seen all over TV and in print the last several months). As for appearance, Evan looked very clean cut, and had chopped off that longish hair he sported on TV. Of course me being the 80's rocker girl I am, I had to ask him why he’d do such a thing. He replied, "I would have done it sooner, but I didn’t have money and couldn’t afford to cut my hair until now." We were pretty shocked when he made an inappropriate comment after borrowing my friend’s purple feather pen to sign autographs. He remarked about how being seen in public with a flamboyant pen like that didn’t bother him, as he now lives in LA and there are "fairies" everywhere. At that point, we were glad to snap one last picture and flee the scene. For someone who’s on minute 14 3/4s of his 15 minutes of fame, you think he’d be more careful of his image and what he’s heard saying in public.

I was ecstatic to hear my favorite 80s "Hair Band" is finally on it’s way to Edmonton. Poison (along with Vince Neil (from Motley Crue who was also a fave) as well as the Headpins, are scheduled to play the Shaw Conference Centre Friday Sept 12th.
Have an awesome summer! See ya next month!
