CommentsSailing a Boat…
What memories does it bring out in you? What feelings are you experiencing when you sail? Can you feel the ocean spray on your face? Do the gulls squawk at you for food? For me it brings out the longing to keep sailing into the night and letting life’s worries and cares disappear into the horizon. The peace, the tranquility that I feel is non replaceable with any modern contrivance.
Try to sail a boat and think of The Simpson’s SHOW… Ha-ha I’ll bet that thought never even crosses your frontal lobe. In fact the most recent movie you saw would be hard pressed to make its way to your memory circuit while you are sailing.
I have sailed larger boats but my enjoyment at present is sailing at Hawrelak Park in Edmonton. Sailing in the PARK!!! You’re crazy; it’s not big enough to hold a sail boat…!! You sputter. Aw foolish mortal, I am talking about a remote control 3 foot sailboat. Sure it’s not pretty but it still conjures up all the images of foreign ports, adventures of the high sea and is relaxing to the max.
If you want to get away from the pretense of today’s world and wish to immerse yourself in a relaxing hobby, take up sailing. Go big or remote; it makes no difference in your experience. After all everything is relative, a 6 inch wave on a remote is just as exhilarating as a 5 foot swell on a 40 footer on the ocean.
Just relax and enjoy the summer in your own way.
