CommentsWould you like to super-size those fries, madam? How about your sofa?
It seems as if everything is being super-sized and our homes are not to be left out.
While it may not be such a good idea to super-size those fries, as I personally have no desire to super-size my thighs, it is a good idea to super-size your home furnishings and wall art.
It seems home furnishing manufacturers and homebuilders have taken this super-sizing to heart.

High ceilings, even in the smallest rooms, bring a great sense of space and comfort, and with this wonderful new-found height we can hang some extraordinary oversized lighting fixtures.
No more square boxes with eight-ft. ceilings throughout the home -- no, we demand super sizing.
Go big and go home.
Take for example a tiny bedroom, perhaps 10-ft. by 12-ft. Start with the bed -- raise the height of the bed by six to 10 in.
You can do this by purchasing a platform for the bed frame or you can simply elevate the legs of the frame with blocks of wood, these blocks can then be easily hidden with a bed skirt.
Now, behind the bed add a headboard, something high, perhaps a folding screen or oversized piece of art or a rod hung at the 8-ft. mark and draped with fabric.
You have created vertical presence.
Add a piece of oversized art on one wall, a highboy dresser, and you have super-sized a tiny bedroom for super-star style.
Often when we are faced with small spaces, we emphasize the fact by filling them with smaller-scale furniture, tiny framed art and lots of knick knacks.
Designers in the know manipulate the smallest spaces by adding a few oversized pieces. You simply use fewer of them.
Conversely, when you have a large room and you fill it with super-sized art and furniture, the room feels comfortable and perfectly balanced.
In a larger space, opt for oversized sofas and chairs (they are great for two to cuddle up on), area rugs, giant pieces of wall art and even taller lamps.
Smaller pieces would be lost and often overlooked in such a large room.
I would rather have a few larger, great quality pieces in a room than a whole truckful of little unimpressive items.
Super-size your home fashion for big results this season.
