Unauthorized health products manufactured by Wild Vineyard may pose health risks

OTTAWA - Health Canada is advising Canadians not to use unauthorized products manufactured by Wild Vineyard because of the potential health risk to consumers. Wild Vineyard is not authorized to manufacture, package, label or import natural health products in Canada. As such, Health Canada is concerned about the quality of these products and the subsequent health risk that they may pose to Canadians.

Products made by Wild Vineyard have not been manufactured according to Health Canada's good manufacturing practices. Failure to manufacture products by standards and practices for quality assurance, product testing, manufacturing, storage, and distribution of natural health products could affect the quality of the natural health products. Health Canada has evidence that some products contain heavy metal contamination with substances such as lead, and inappropriate labelling.

Symptoms of exposure to heavy metals may include, but are not limited to, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, muscle cramps, diarrhea, heart abnormalities, anaemia, bone, liver, kidney and nervous system problems.

The products are advertised as natural health products to be used for a wide range of conditions. These products are available at retail stores and over the Internet and are not authorized for sale in Canada. The products are also distributed by Health Trek and by Sho-Tai practitioners. Wild Vineyard is recalling all of their products including the following list:
